Northern Shaolin Kung Fu

About Kung Fu

The Kung Fu we teach at the Daolin Centre is called "Northern Shaolin". It is a style from Northern China that complements the other systems we teach. All of the movements are circular and relaxed and move within the body's natural range of motion. Our Northern Shaolin Kung Fu course contains Tan Tui with applications, Traditional Longfist training, Eagle Claw, Qin Na and Traditional Shaolin Kung Fu exercises and forms.

The Kung Fu courses at the Daolin Centre have been designed to be suitable for everyone, regardless of your age, ability or current fitness level. The movements of Kung Fu can be performed both in a slow and graceful manner or with fast explosive energy releases. After only a short amount of practise you should feel your energy levels increasing, a little more practise and you will become fitter, healthier, better balanced, more flexible, more relaxed and have a calm mind.

The rhythmic exercises and circular movements of Kung Fu are easy on the joints and can be combined with the deep meditative breathing exercises of Qigong to focus the mind and energise the body.

The training at the Daolin Centre is tailored to suit your individual needs so you can move and progress at your own pace.

The fundamental driving force behind the Daolin centre is your health and well being, this extends beyond physical fitness to social and personal development or even exploring the philosophical ideas of Buddhism and Daoism (Taoism). These philosophies are deeply woven with the history and culture in which these systems were created. Our courses develop the whole of the body and mind rather than concentrating on singular area.
